Well, it’s official now, Facebook usernames are live and doing well. In a wild frenzy to grab their custom vanity URL’s, Facebook users created over 200,000 custom user names in the first 3 minutes of Saturday morning (and yup, I was one them too). After 15 minutes, Facebook reported over 500,000 new user names. One of the highlights of the night was Benjamin Standefer snagging Ashton Kutscher’s aplusk moniker (http://www.facebook.com/aplusk). Guess we’ll be seeing Ben on some news shows tomorrow!
If you didn’t get your Facebook user name yet, you still can at http://www.facebook.com/username/. And if you did already get you user name, why not post it here for everyone to see and let us all know if you got the name you wanted.

I was happy to snag http://www.facebook.com/paulholmes – on most things, I’ve had to resort to the less memorable, but graciously shorter “tpholmes” (like http://twitter.com/tpholmes).
I was pretty excited to pick up http://www.facebook.com/VictoriaBusiness for our local Chamber of Commerce.
Far less exciting, I suppose, then Mr. Standefer’s royal coup.

I was there, and got my name in the first minute! I registered http://facebook.com/lisabreedt
I’m wondering if /lisa.breedt wouldn’t have been a better choice? Too late now! What do you think about the . ?
Well done to Facebook for not crashing!

Facebook is mainly personal and not business, so I resisted to use my usual online (business) name ‘mStudios’ (see http://www.mStudios.com for some good Web Design and other stuff) but stuck with ‘my’ name which is not too common: marlyse … fits my (personal) website

I dig the new Facebook vanity URL option! This is one of the features in the “new” facebook that really made me smile. While I was a little slow on the draw, I was able to lock in a variation of my name. It’s hard when your name is as standard as “Katie Roberts”

I got mine! You’d think my name is rare (and it is, in the US), but there are a couple of people with my name on Facebook that may be a little disappointed:
