The folks over at ThoughtWorks are doing a webinar entitled Making Distributed Software Development Work next Tuesday, April 8, 2008.  From ThoughtWorks:

Join ThoughtWorks’ Matthew Simons and Forrester’s Carey Schwaber, as they discuss how to ensure successful software delivery when working with distributed teams.

Do you face any of these challenges in your distributed development project?
• Disconnection on project requirements or estimation
• Decreased visibility into project status
• Erosion of trust among individuals in the project
If you do, you are not alone. Let’s face it; global collaboration is hard. Because software development is, at its core, based on communication. Every aspect of a project is fundamentally changed the moment that team members lose the ability to communicate face to face. As a result, it’s far too easy for a distributed software project to be unsuccessful.
And yet, the allure of distributed projects is very powerful: cost savings, 24/7 availability of development, access to talent and more. No wonder then, that Project Managers are expected to deliver results with Global teams.
